I just returned from an extended trip to Japan and am slowly digging
myself out of a very deep e-mail hole, but I now feel compelled to
comment on this thread. Some people are under the mistaken impression
that this list is only for the discussion of the mechanical aspects
of operating and repairing privately-owned military vehicles. On
the contrary. this list is for the discussion of any and all issues
related to the private ownership of military vehicles. That includes
political, emotional, and philosophical issues, *as long as they
relate directly to the private ownership of military vehicles.* I
interpret the appropriateness of discussion very broadly, as long
as it satisfies that criteria. And of course the discussion must
remain civil. I quote from one of the administrative postings I
sometimes make to the list, which I should perhaps post yet again:

"The simple question you need to ask yourself is this: 'What has
this got to do with privately owned military vehicles?' If you want
to talk about politics, make sure it relates to zoning ordinances,
or safety laws, or something else related to privately-owned military
vehicles. If you want to give medical information (a potentially
dangerous thing at any time), only do so if it relates to repairing
or restoring or using private military vehicles. But if it has
nothing to do with private ownership of military vehicles, don't
post it."

So, there you have it. If you don't want to read political discussion
about the private ownership of military vehicles, examine the
Subjects of list traffic and simply delete them, unread. I host
this list for the entire hobby, not merely for mechanical information,
although that is naturally a significant part of list traffic.
