I own a MEP-016A 3KW genset. The four cylinder air cooled engine 4A0-32
is pretty well over built for a 6 hp motor. It has an oil pump, spin on or
cartridge oil filter (depending on year), mechanical fuel pump, sediment
bowl, paper element air cleaner. Some nice features that most civilian 3Kw
units probably wont have.
The only thing that is lacking is no recoil start. Has the standard open
pulley for wind up rope. Elect start is available, but it is 24v and
doesnt have batteries, so you would need an external 24 volt power source.

Subject: [MV] Mil Gen reliability/durability

How reliable and durable are the mil generators compared to say a modern
Honda or Briggs overhead valve powered generator? Are they substantially
overdesigned?
