FYI
I thought I would forward this recent message from the Unimog list - a direct case of a non-US
manufacture, non lend - lease, non-antique, surplus ex-NATO military truck (not a tank or APC)
not being let into the USA at this time. Even thought the list has started to ignore the
issue and get back to "where can I find a doohicky for my framistan" the major issue at hand
is still unresolved!

if anyone has any helpful ideas to help Mcqueen out of this problem, please let him know.

Subject: [MOG] still mogless

Brock mcqueen here,........ my mog is still impounded in sweetgrass, Mt. it
may be b.s. to some, but i am not being especially well entertained at this
point. after about 10 days, i finally got the forms from the b.a.t.f. (a
form 6) though in their usual helpful manner, there was no note,
explanation, or info as to who or where to send it when completed. these
forms are for the import of firearms, ammo, and explosive ordinance, and
while they do list an implement of war, they do not appear to have any
application for vehicles. the license also lasts for one year, and i
don't want to be at the mercy of some "better than thou" official who
takes it upon themselves to save the world by their standard, and refuse to
allow me to keep my vehicle. anyway,, this vehicle was not a u.s. export,
it is a NEW, 25 year old vehicle, import. it should be an immediate, no
hassle import according to d.o.t. specs----- but then it is dealing with
the government....
