Sorry John, muriatic is dilute hydrochloric. It also has no place in this
type of refinishing, as it is sold for cleaning portland cement off bricks.

To the owner of those bolts...just hit em with a 3m scuff pad on a power
sander and the paint will adhere fine. No witch's brew needed.
