I play with OD for fun, and operate a fair sized hobby shop to support this
hobby (as well as to feed the family, etc.).
What you say is correct, in fact if you look at the top of the latest Testors
military paint rack, there are three color swatches to illustrate this, as
well as a detailed explanation in a booklet sold on the same rack.
But...I have painted trucks with both Aervoe and Gillespie paint, both
gallons and spray cans and found that the do not always match the other
brand. The Aervoe seems to have a tendency to oxidize quickly. (I collect
6x6's and they are parked outdoors a lot) This oxidation changes the shade
of the paint.
Also, there is a tan that is used in the US 4 color camo scheme that the
Testors is a much closer match to the original than either of the "MV" paints.
