Hi Dave,
I own an M38 so it is close to the MB. It will not go into low 2wd. Only high. Built that way. It will go into 4wd low. The thing screams @ 6 miles/hr in first gear. the MB uses a different transmission (T84 on the MB vs T90 on the M38).
They use the same Spicer model 18 transfer case.
