As one of the "younger" set, I would first like to offer to take in any MVs
that may be orphaned by someone losing steam or interest in this hobby. I
assure you, those of us from the USMC side of the house are so used to
using cast off and generally old gear in the course of our duties, that the
prospect of having to refurbish an old warhorse is pretty much business as
usual, and what we buy from the farmer down the street is probably much
nicer than what was sitting in the motor pool (at least until the Hummers
arrived).
For me, the fascination is in actually owning a rolling piece of history.
I drove a jeep for my first four years in the Corps. It was a "Rat Patrol"
style gun jeep, complete with "Mama Deuce" on her pintle mount. It saved
our butts on more than one occasion. (Now if I could just arrange to make
payments...)
Even though a majority of the kids nowadays have no idea who MacArthur,
Patton, Ridgeway, Gilmore (of Growler fame), Abrams, Krulak were, there are
those who actually went out and did the research themselves.
And one day one of them will inherit my jeep, dammit...

Keep the faith, friends, and thanks for keeping them rolling!

Bill
