Hello Scott:
Thanks for the response. The rear x-member is riveted on and also has
welds across the top and bottom. If the frame itself is still good, it would
be a shame to chop it off in front of the rear x-member. The process would
involve grinding off or drilling out the rivets and carefully slicing through
the weld with a small cutoff wheel.
Let me know if you can and/or want to do this; I don't want to wear out
your generosity regarding the gas neck inset!!
