A truck driver is not necessesarily a truck maintenance expert. How
many people trust their mechanic to have put everything back after it
goes in for a tuneup? Most people will simply get in their car and
drive off. Only if it starts making noises will they stop and look
under the hood. (If only once! Us airdales believe in a thorough
pre-flight!)

Age and sex were likely not a factor as much as the tour company's
"job desciptions" and operations policies.

This is speculation on my part based on other organizations, since I
wasn't there to read their SOP ;-)
