This reminds me of a few years ago I had a 38 ft Chris Craft Boat of
which I always working on it wasnt that it needed it I just was always
cleaning and or tinkering.Well away one day I was backing the boat into
the slip and theport engine was not responding and didnt have a clue why
but anyway we tied it up and went about having dockside fun when I
noticed the blige pump come on the go of several times.Didnt bother to
look at first problenm figured I would do that later.Well I raised the
hatch on port side and found water comeing in at the stuffing box and
didnt see the prop shaft.Needless to say we got the boat to the trvel
lift and hauled it out to find the prop shaft had come out of the
coupler and had gone back about 6 inches had it gone back another 6 I
would probley lost the boat.Causeof this problem the the locking bolts
on the coupler had worked loose and wend it was put in reverse the shaft
came out .This dukw problem sounds the same somebody didnt tighten up
someting.Needless to say this one of the things I checked all the time
after that
Carl
