Well, though I couldn't find anyone from this list, I made the trip back to
Aberdeen for the East Coast ralley and had a good time. I bought a few
small parts and a nearly complete No. 19 wireless set to go on the jeep. I
also spent some time looking over the vehicles in the Aberdeen collection,
boy that depressing. I know that folks are trying to get them restored,
and they deserve a lot of credit for their efforts but, I spent the week in
DC and happened to notice the Holocost Mueum which is now on the Mall. Now
don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with remembering the
holocost(though I wouldn't have put it on the Mall after all its not
exactly American History) but where is the museum remembering the men who
fought and died to end the Holocost? As a historian, I find it
frustrateing that there is no national military museum. Yea, there are
individual service museums, but there should be a national military museum
right on the Mall, the nations front yard, so everyone can remember the
important role of the military in America's History. How this relates to
the vehicles at Aberdeen is this, if there was a national military museum,
not funded by the military's already scanty budget, there would be money to
restore and properly preserve things like these. Just some thoughts.
