Hi Dan,

I checked Orchard & Madden's book "British Forces Motorcycles" and found the
following:

WM2081643:
Contract number: C13290
WD serial number allocation: 4752401-4757400, 4860801-4865800
Engine number: WM20-71818 to WM20-81817
Quantity: 10,000
Delivery (demanded): January 26, 1942

From this is it possible to calculate your WD number: 4865800 - (81817 -
81643) = 4865626 (assuming they were assigned in sequence, in the absence
of other information the best assumption we have)

WM20121941:
Contract number: C7218
WD serial number allocation: 5885918-5895917
Engine number: ?? *
Quantity: 10,000 (reduced to 5870)
Dates: August 10, 1944 - January 19, 1946

* Your number is probably in this range since a previous contract for 12,000
had a range of WM20-104818 to WM20-116817 (plus some small contracts for
another 17 bikes). Yours would then be bike #5107 in contract C7218, with WD
number 5891025 (same assumptions as above)

Cheers,

Piet Jan
