OK! Jerry-can: if you go to

you will see the back of a MUTT with a jerry-can painted in O.D. with the
upper part painted in... red!
What is it? Why in red?
Speaking of jerry-can, I remember in a Catalogue (U.S. Cavalry or The
Sportsman, sorry I cannot find it!) jerry-can for sale with the interior
"lined in porcelain".
These were NOT WWII issue. Now, perhaps they were for water, hence
"porcelain lined"?
