The 24V motor you have I think is from a generator. I am holding one in my
hand with the same NSN, one of several I got at an auction thinking I could
adapt it to the Mule. But, the rotation is reversed for what a Mule needs.
Even if rotation was correct, the housing would have to be radically altered
to get the small gear (9 tooth) to mesh with the ring gear. The original
pull starter for a Mule runs a 22 tooth gear. The proper/original electric
12V starter for a Mule (Prestolite #MGL-4015) runs a 14 tooth gear. It is
not a gear reduction unit. It simply is an offset housing on the motor to
get the 14 tooth gear to mesh with the ring gear when the center of the
starter hole was meant for a 22 tooth gear, if you can follow that? BTW:
I'd be happy sell my 24V motors, any takers????
