The Standard Catalog of US Military Vehicles indicates that Dodge VC series
half ton pickups with civilian front sheet metal were produced in 1940. In
1941 the military sheet metal was adopted to ease the manufacture. These were
the WC series. The WC 40 was a half ton closed cab weapons carrier that
appears to use the civilian pickup box. Pictures in the book show the three
blackout lights. Other variant listed as closed cabe express bodied trucks
are the WC 1, 5, 12, 14, 20, and 41. The cowl and cab were civilian but only
the earliest ones used civilian guages.
You may be looking at an early, desireable truck that is small enough to be
very practical.
