Careful, yes.Ready for action, yes. Ask questions, yes. But start
shooting? I can't see the sense in that. Unless there is some other
aspect to the situation that makes it threatening, chances are there
is no reason for such a harsh reaction."
My Point?
Yes to start shooting is a serious choice that must be made, and
obviously shooting a hand gun at armour is a waste of time and
dangerous (ricochet). Its the Guy inside that will determine what
goes on next, if you touch that weapon or go near it you guess whats
going to happen. If you don't know firearms I can tell you if the
weapon is cocked and loaded it takes something less than .5 of a second
to kill someone,so should I wait or should I be ready for a possible
threat? sorry but my hand would be on my gun, at the least(Returning
fire may give you time to retreat at least, yes even with armour a
non expert will duck)
The threat comes from (in this case) :
1. an Armoured vehicle appearing un-announced
2. the armoured vehicle is armed (there's no time to consider anything
else)
3. its appearing somewhere that " Loonies" go to make their point in any
way they can. Its not the guy inside at all its the MV/MG, but an
Officer must treat all persons he encounters as potentially dangerous
until an opinion has been formed.(Parliament house here was attacked
by a guy with petrol bombs a couple of days ago, if the same guys
are on duty when you turn up in your armed, armoured car want to guess
what their reaction will be?)
Any police officer will consider the worst scenario and act accordingly,
I can tell you if you put yourself in this sort of position, fail to
obey instructions given and/or go near that weapon you will find out
first hand what is the result. Sorry but thats just the way it is.There
are just too many loonies in the world today.
Its just best for all not to get into this situation in the
first place.
Someone said "its common sense.." thats right, most Police Officers like
playing with MV's and weapons, so just use common sense. For the most
part they can recogonise a threat when they see it and won't give run of
the mill MV owners a hard time I hope what I have said will help explain
what will happen and be taken as a hint to keep you on the right
side!sorry for the length but I think some didn't get my point from my
shorter posting(to be honest if it were a tank I would not consider
anything, just run like hell!!!!arf arf arf)
