[MV] GPW clutch problem

Hello list,

I've been lurking for about a year and enjoy the threads about old Jeeps.
I've bought and sold parts on the list with great satisfaction. People have
been honest about what they have and I to them. Now to my question.

I got a call from a computer-challenged friend who is restoring a 44 GPW.
Every "f" part painstakingly disassembled, cleaned, repaired, and refinished.
He started with a very clean, one owner, unmolested GPW that he bought from
an estate sale.

It was a relatively easy restoration now 98% done. He says the clutch won't
release when he pushes in the pedal. All the clutch parts are original, he
thinks. He says it worked before he took it apart. Then...he pulled the
engine and had the fingers on the clutch adjusted to within .003" (I'm not
sure why he did that but he has a friend helping him and neither of them are
mechanics). I'm going to look at it this weekend and was hoping that the
list might offer some suggestions as to what to look for. I have change
several Jeep clutches but never a GPW. Is there anything unusual about the
the GPW clutch?

Thanks,

Tom Lee
