The chappie Nige mentions was probably seconded from the Royal Navy. The
Royal Marines notwithstanding, each Royal Naval vessel has a small number
of bods who were "trained" to be soldiers of a sort. NT, or ND platoon, or
some such name - anyone shedding any light here?
Never give a skate (sailor) a gun smaller than 4 point 5 inch caliber, or
the silly sod will shoot himself with it - believe me!
