Hi Bill, I'd have to differ from DDoyle's answer, but then you say you've
seen several. He has it mostly right, but the mount in the bed is on the
right (passenger) side. Some models (early?) had a "flip seat" mounted on
the bed's front panel (between the spare and panel), which when the spare
was removed, folded up to provide one additional seat. Those panels have
four 3/8-24 nuts welded into them (in a rectangular pattern but with the
rectangle at a slight angle), to accept the bolts for the seat.
A close reproduction of the bracket to hold that spare is available from
Snake River 4X4, I believe. You'll also need a cast plate (about 6" diam)
and a large screw that looks like an overgrown jack (from the kids game of
jacks)-it has a 3/4-16 NF rod and a tripod-like "star-wheel" for a handle.
Bill...do you really want to learn and collect everything before your
purchase? You'll be very wise, but your adventure/discovery will suffer for
it! Have fun! - mazo mike
