2HN batteries are still available from Star Electric who advertise in Supply
Line. These batteries are for the M151 family of jeeps. Star bought out
the existing supply from their manufacturer and are DRY CHARGED. I'm not
sure but I think they were $45-55 each depending on the quanity you wanted,
and are in their factory sealed boxes. Another consideration (depending on
the amount of "purist" you are) is that there is a similiar type of battery
available from battery shops who cater to the lawn equipment people. These
are slightly smaller than the right ones but work just fine. The 6HL types
(Hummers, CUCV's etc) are very pricey. However, in a CUCV, they are NOT
recommended and were changed over to a "group 31" series. They are much
cheaper and the trays in the CUCV have notches already for them and are
available everywhere. Hummers can use the regular batteries too. You
must decide what your needs are for the type of extreme driving you do and
the climate you are in. If you're like me, and drive some of your vehicles
a couple of times a year, it doesn't pay to buy an expensive battery unless
you keep a trickle charger on them. After a battery sits idle for about a
year, it usually will be stone dead, will "sulfite" and will not take a
proper charge if any at all. (depending on how healthy it was to begin
with) One and a half to two years will definately kill a new battery.
