Personally if it were mine and I had the head pulled off, I''d install the
hardened valve seats, especially if its a daily driver. Like someone just
said, peace of mind is peace of mind and its one less thing to worry about
down the road.

But for what its worth: the Federatin of British Historic Vehicle Clubs
recently had the Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA) test 12 submitted
lead substitutes and of the 12 tested, 4 "restricted valve seat recession to
acceptable levels"
These were tested using a Rover A series engine.
The 4 lead substites then got official FBHVC recommendation and they are the
following brands: Millers VSP-plus, Red Line Lead Substitute, Superblend 12,
and Valvemaster.

The funny thing is 40 manufactureres were approached to submitt there
products for testing and ONLY 12 submitted their lead substitutes for
testing : 0

This has been published in a few classic car publications here and there.
Hope this helps
