Hello je:

>>> .001-.003 a little loose....

I rechecked my notes:
Refrences: Motor Service's Automotive Encyclopedia
by Tobolt/Johnson
Pg 157 .001-.002 interference fit in Cast Iron

Auto Service and Repair
by Stockel
Pg 13-14 Same.

TRW TECH TOPICS Volume 6 # 1 Summer Issue 1991
Pg 3 .003 in Cast Iron

These are very general rule of thumb clearances.
The final fit is a function of block/head material (Cast Iron, Steel Alloys
or Aluminum), size and material of the insert, what its manufacturer
recommends and the installers experience.

The question I tried to answer, was in regards to the Jeep L4 type
motor. My M38 had chilled inserts, .003 undersized bore and
lightly driven in with an inserter and hammer. Block was warm.

Hope this helps.
