As promised , Here is info on heater:

Heater, Ration, Individual : Mounted Troops
NSN 7310-01-289-9645
Mine is dated 12/94

Heats 4 rations at a time, takes 20 minutes. Plug is nonstandard but
I seem to remember purchasing the " Vehicle utility outlet " from Star for
$5 when I bought the Heater( now if I can rember where I put it when I got
home.) It had one wire off it with typical mil male plug, ground is
established by screwing to vehicle mounting surface or making a small jumper
with alligator clips on both ends so it can be moved from vehicle to
vehicle. If You don't buy receptical it would be pretty simple to power
since barrel of plug is metal with center large bronze button.Or you could
cut off plug and make alligators on both wires and connect to batteries.
Unit has 3 rubberized magnet strips ( Like refrigerator magnet stuff) on
bottom to hold upright on metal surface. Its OD nylon and has a green
powelight and fuse holder built into case. Instructions under cover and case
has storge for cord and another velcroed pocket and carry strap. On/ off
switch in cord.About the size of the 2 quart canteen bag but only half as
tall.
Also has instructions for making Hot Water using "Bag, plastic, hot
water NSN 8105-01-316-2555" ( God , ya gotta love em) which holds 8 Oz. But
Quart ziploc freezer bags seem to fit just fine.
Now that I've bored 99% of you , I will slink off in search of the
"Utility Receptical".
Regards , Ron
