Dave - Has asked a question that should evoke some interesting responces.

I have tried most of the pentrating oils, coke etc. with very mixed luck,
I've tried heating, impact wrenches etc, long breaker bars work well at
breaking bolts off. The one trick I have found that works is vibrating the
bolt or nut with an air chisel using a punch head. Take care to keep the
preasure down and protect the threads. When working on a bolt head I insert
the punch through a six sided socket of the correct size this holds the
punch centered and also makes for a nice tight fit to the socket. On the
bolt head I run another nut on to the bolt to protect the thread and then do
the same socket bit. Vibrating the bolts this way seems to work well and
only takes a 10-15 seconds of vibrating. I used this trick when
disassembling my CMP for restoration I only broke off a handful of bolts on
the entire truck.

This trick has even worked on bolts or studs that have already broken off if
done with care to vibrate with out expanding and then using what is called
an "easy out".

Dosen't seem to work as well on modern cars though.
