[MV] Sorry, server was down

I just got back from a two-week business trip and I'm sorry to have
to report that, as you likely noticed, skylee.com was down for a
day. For the UNIX people out there, it was due to a kernel panic.
I don't know its precise cause, but it seems to me that my six-year-old
33MHz 68040 mail server is simply no longer up to the task. I'd
like to upgrade to better hardware, preferably a G3 PowerMac running
MacOS X Server, but the only reason to do so is the heavy traffic
generated by mil-veh, and the list generates no revenue for me at
all in order to do so. The time has come for me to decide to either
put more time into the list, making sure it and its archives run
absolutely smoothly on adequate hardware and improving my network
connection, or shut the list down and return to a (cheap) dialup
account. I would welcome your input on just how valuable you find
this list, if indeed you do. Though I would like it to remain a
"free" servive, to continue mil-veh I must somehow make it monetarily
self-supporting, and I would like your suggestions on how I can do
so, while maintaining its community atmosphere.

To make it easier for me to handle your private comments, please
e-mail me about this issue at <ack@adamation.com>.
