I should put my two cents in as well, being a vet.

I intend to try to present the appearance of a military driver for each on
my vehicles. For both the mule and the truck, wear herringbones and a Colt
.45 should suffice. I can either buy one of the resin "show" pistols that
Brigade Quartermasters sells, or I can holster the actual firearm that I
own. Either way, to present the MV without the rest of the ensemble cheats
our guests from the cultural aspect of each vehicle. It robs them of a
sense of perspective. If you put a King Tiger next to a Sherman, without
letting the public see the difference in the bore sizes, how can you ever
get the public to understand the sheer balls that it took for Sherman crew
to take on Tigers?

Of course, to me, the presentation of my MV obligates me to being able to
explain not only the history of the vehicle, but a little bit about the
folks who originally used them, and this is easy to do if you step "into
character" to do it. And I refuse to believe that anybody would have a
problem with a professionally conducted re-enactor in the uniform of the
period, explaining about his truck. If part of the uniform is a sidearm,
or a carbine, then this should be presented as well, just don't get stupid.

(If anybody really has a problem with the public display of weapons, I hope
to God they never attend a demonstration by the USMC Silent Drill team.
Each one of those '03s is combat ready, and each one of those bayonets has
a working edge.)

Okay, I'm done venting...

Bill
