Figure it's time to put my 2 cents worth in. The Manual calls for the
stars on all Tactical trucks Front and Rear except the Ambulance. The
gentleman that posted this is exactly right. I believe (and have seen) the
US Army like everyone else in the world will use cheap Spray Paint to paint
Flat Black insignia on their vehicles, rather than use and mix the issue
Stuff. If anyone has ever painted cheap Spray Paint in a thin coat on top of
better quality paint such as CARC, they know that 1+ years in the sun and the
Cheap Spray Paint has vanished.
By the time vehicles get to DRMO they have sat and sat and sat in the
sun and who knows when it was last marked. The gentleman who posted this
information about the TB that dictates this is absolutely correct. If
someone receives a vehicle without the Stars, they have probably faded or
someone isn't following policy!
