[MV] Jeep regulator

List,
I installed an 8 volt battery in my '42 GPW. It really helped on starting.
The local Automotive Electrical Shop says I need to adjust the regulator
which puts out 8V to put out 9.5V. The shop labor is kind of expensive to
accomplish same.
Can the average person adjust the regulator with a multi meter, or should I
go the Shop route?
