Greetings! I'm posting this in the event anyone else shares my interest =
in
repro M151's. I contacted Carolina Growler via their website,
http://www.carolinagrowler.com/index.html. Bill Crisp replied. I'm post=
ing
the entire thread of four messages below. Sorry this is
long, but I thought it only fair to post it in its entirety. If anyone =
has done,
or plans to do business with this company, I'd like to hear how
things work out.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I learned of your product from Military Vehicles magazine and from an
e-mail forum on the internet. I'm interested in the vehicle and I have =
a
few questions:

1. Can I purchase the body alone, without all of the surplus parts?

2. Your web site says your vehicle is based on the M151A2. Does this =

mean the surplus parts you use for the suspension, specifically the rear =

end, are M151A2, as opposed to M151 or M151A1?

3. Is your company in any way related to "Encore Vehicles" in Florida? =

Is the source for your bodies the same source they used?

4. Are vehicle kit sales cash-up-front only, or payment upon delivery?

I look forward to your reply.

Hi Shawn,

Sure we'll sell the body alone. Price is $3,500. We are not associated =

with Encore nor are our bodies from the same source. They buy theirs
from Sandy Engineering whose price is $3,450. We build our own bodies
using our own fixtures and using 12 gauge steel for ours vs 14 gauge for
theirs. That may not seem like much but 12 is significantly more resista=
nt
to dents and oilcanning than 14 gauge.

The components on the A1 and the A2 are the same. The body
construction is slightly different in the way the rear components are
mounted. The rear A arms are reversed on the A2 to change the
direction of travel. It significantly reduces the possibility of a rollo=
ver in
a hard turn.

Normal conditions are 50% down and 50% upon delivery. We also accept
mastercard or visa.

We normally order enough steel to build 10 or 20 bodies at a time. Our
next production run will be complete in 6 to 8 weeks and approximately
half of the bodies are already sold. If you want one let me know.

***** 3) My request to Bill Crisp, Sunday, 9/19/99 *****
Thanks for the quick response, Bill. That's about the same price Encore =

quoted to me early this year, before they burned me for $2k. I had a
contract as a "regional rep" with them & got screwed.

I'll have to give this some more thought for now. I have a friend with =
lots
of surplus parts for sale, but I'm not sure I'm ready to buy.

If you don't mind, I'd like to post both my questions and your reply on =
the
mil-veh e-mail list. You can find out more about the list, or subscribe,
at this address: http://skylee.com/mil-veh.html
I won't proceed without your permission. I believe there are a number =

of people out there who have some of the same questions, or perhaps
don't know about you guys at all. Maybe it will generate some business. =

Either way, it's your call.

Sure Shawn go ahead and post my answer. It's the truth and that's all =
I've
got. If you decide to buy let me know we'll try to give you a fair deal.

Bill
