Belt dressing? Hair spray??? Do you think the military goes around spraying
things on their belts that attract dirt?
IF you can grab ahold of the alternator cooling fan(engine off) and turn the
alternator pulley(not the belt) then the belt is too loose or pulley/belt is
worn out! Do the job right.
The belt will also slip & not squeal,albeit not as much. This makes the
alternators work harder & shortens the service life. You can check this by
checking pulley temp after running the engine for awhile(engine off).
