Wheelin' 99 Car Show in Brownsville, TN
October 3, 1999

CONVOY OBJECTIVE:
Sunday, October 3 will be a chance for fellowship among our members as well
as a chance to aid a worthy cause. We will be traveling to Brownsville to
participate in the Wheelin’ 99 Car Show. The entire $15.00 per vehicle entry
fee is donated to the Haywood County Multiple Disabilities class, a group of
children, some basicly thrown away by their families, who need a level of
care almost beyond comprehension. These kids need our help!! It may be hot,
it may be raining, we may have other projects, we have put a lot of miles on
the equipment this year and we are all tired, but we need a “maximum effort”
for this weekend. We have a chance here to directly affect the lives of kids
who need all the help they can get, yet few are willing to help. In another
time, in another country, children like these would have been exterminated;
but men with equipment not unlike ours, stopped that; now let us make a
small sacrifice of our time, energy, sweat and money to help kids here. If
one of these kids was your child, what I’m asking of you now wouldn’t seem
like much. Plus, all entrants will receive a t-shirt and a door prize, and
trophies will be awarded to class winners at 4:30. A hospitality room is
available for all participants.
CONVOY PROCEDURE:
Military vehicles, antique and show cars of all types and vintages are
welcome. Before we leave the assembly point you will be given your position
in the convoy. The basic order of march is as follows: civilian vehicles
and military vehicles under tow will leave first and travel at road speed.
Ten minutes later self-propelled miltary vehicles, largest to smallest, will
leave with a targeted convoy speed of 40 MPH. In the event that more than 10
- 12 MV’s travel, the convoy will be separated into two or more packets.
Watch the vehicles in front and behind you! If either stops, you stop.
Likewise if you stop, then the entire convoy will halt. Should it be
necessary to stop in route, please pull well clear of the roadway. Please
maintain your position in the convoy as assigned at the assembly point.

CONVOY ROUTE:
The convoy will depart from David Doyle’s house (directions follow) at 8:00
AM Sunday October 3. Snacks will be provided to all members who arrive by
7:45. (Please let us know in advance if you will be joining us by emailing.)

We will proceed along TN Hwy 14 to its end, then take Hwy 54 into
Brownsville. We will convoy through town to the intersection of Hwy 70 & 76,
which is the car show site.

CONVOY ASSEMBLY POINT:
To get to the assembly point from Memphis, take Ausin Peay (Hwy 14) to
Mudville Road. This is about one mile before the Tipton County Line. (Just
past Mile Post 35.) A store is on the right at the intersection; this is
the only store on the right side of Austin Peay beyond the BP station at
Covington Pike. Turn right on Mudville and take it until it ends. Then turn
left. You are now traveling on Brunswick Road. Turn right at the first
intersection onto Redwood, and take it until it ends. Turn left and you will
now be on Deadfall Road. 9570 will be on the right at the top of the hill.
Watch for Army trucks. Please keep vehicles ¾ ton and larger on the gravel
drive; smaller vehicles can park on grass to the right of the driveway.
