Hello John, Thanks for "filling" In for me there. I don't know how long
or for what reason the State Department has banned the export of military
hardware. As many of you know, they stopped the importation of common
military vehicles too. The individual who commented on how common they were
over there then should not be looking to hard to find one! Also, machine
guns are a common thing with citizens in some of these third world countries
BUT THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT I COULD SIMPLY UPS A MACHINE GUN OVER THERE! It
doesn't matter how common they are or how they "suck" in performance, it is
simply illegal to ship most of any kind of military hardware to ANY foreign
country without approval from the State Department. PERIOD! If you notice
that when military radios are being sold on eBay or otherwise, they say "Not
to be exported". I'm sure radios are a common thing over there too due to
our Lend-Lease policy. I simply wanted to remind in a friendly way that you
could face some possible SERIOUS trouble if your package was intercepted by
customs. And, as you well know: Ignorance is no excuse of the law and to
say it is a collectors' item won't cut it either. Most machine guns are
collectors' items too. (See the analogy?) Flak jackets can still be used
for the purpose intended, collectors' item or not and, what if it did end
up in the wrong hands. Then what? I am not trying to be difficult, I
didn't write the law, just stating the facts ma'am. Should you want to
investigate this further, contact the State Department for their "list" if
one is available or simply ask what is prohibited from export regarding
military hardware. Sincerely, Julian Burke
