In the Post-WWII era, the USMC marking color was the same type finish as
body color...if the green was s-g, then the markings were....if the green
flat, then so were the markings. This is all covered in MCO P4750.3. The
same order also authorizes locally procured self adhesive letters (in the
correct color and style) for markings. In my experience this is much
easier/neater than stencilling.
