I was sure there was something in TM 9 1808C by John Zentmyer, that chap
who knows about these things, pointing out the differences in gearing
between PW and M-37 transfers.

(Sound of paper rustling as he looks it up)

Ah, you were right, and I was on the right track too but got the detail
wrong.

M-37 and PW were both 1.96 : 1, the desirable t-case with 1.5 : 1 was in
the wartime WC 6 x 6 WC 62 / 63, and for just the reason I said.

As usual I'm close but no cigar....
