[MV] Alabama MV meeting and M38A1 Question

We had our first meeting of the Dixie Division Military Vehicles Club, last
Saturday, with a great turn-out for a first meeting. We had 27 vehicles, and
over 100 attended (including wives and traveling partners). We signed up 44
new members and are have many more who say they want to join, but couldn't
come to the meeting.

Problem with my M38A1. Had it painted up as a US Air Force "Follow Me" jeep,
and took it to the above rally. It ran like a swiss watch on Friday, but
Saturday morning it died. It will start and run, but blows a huge smoke
screen out the tail pipe. Enough oil to turn the grass black behind the
jeep. Shut it down and haven't started it since. Where should I start
looking for the problem. My first guess is a blown head gasket, or a broken
ring. Anyone else ever face this problem? One suggestion at the show, was a
broken fuel pump that was sucking oil in through the vacuum side; but this
jeep has an electric fuel pump, and the original is "out of the loop".
Thanks in advance for your advice.
