If this has gotten that bad, I'd say the stud is shot
from being twisted, bent, stretched, or
overtightened!!

Go ahead and burn it out of the nut and get a new one.

If you take your cutting torch and start right on the
exposed end of the stud with the flame directed with
the axis of the stud you can burn the stud out of the
nut without hurting the threads of the nut or the
wheel. When it lets loose just replace the stud.

Just as an unrelated point of caution:

Another local man was killed when a lock ring let
loose on a dump truck tire he was repairing. He died
of severe chest injuries on the spot. The tire was
still on the truck, not in the cage.
