Ben, I hope you are not talking about the
80 MBs and GPWs stored in Antwerp / Belgium since
a couple of years. These are ex-Greek Army and were
auctioned in the late 80ies ? after being stored in Greece
for a couple of years in the open. The guy who wants to
sell them stripped them of all hard to find parts (F-marked
parts etc.) and ALL original horns !! etc.and replaced
them with reproduction items. The engines have not
turned in at least 15 years, and I would think one would
have to check and possibly rebuilt anything that turns...
differentials, gearbox, steering, engine...brakes....the
instrument faces have faded in the Greek sun.......he still
wants about USD 5.500,00 each and the latest I heard was
that it will only be an "en-block", no individual vehicle, sale
of about USD 450,000.00 ex warehouse in Belgium.
The vehicles were offered on the web together with
picutes of the stored vehicles. But I do not remember
the URL......
I visited the man in his warehouse near Arnheim several
years ago. I was not impressed by the quality of the
surplus vehicles. I recon they would be worth USD 2,500 to
maybe USD 3,000 maximum back then...now they have
been moved and stored another sis or seven years. They did
not improve, I would guess.
