Gavin...... the answer is "YES". The door frames were removed from their
skins and you'll know that the frames then fold up neatly. All the frames,
side-curtain rods etc were then stowed under the rear seat frame. Early TMs
(-10s) show the set attached to the underside of the rear seat, which had
footman loops and straps as appropriate.
However, the military later decided to issue curtains and doors on a
"need-to-use" basis and if they weren't being used on the vehicle because of
the weather or season, they were returned to storage, not folded and stowed.
I presume the reason for this was the number of damaged doors/windows/missing
rods etc following their retrieval from under the rear seat, when they were
actually needed.
My I suggest that on your epic journey, you take an M416 trailer with you to
stow all your gear.
