Yeah as far as I know cellphones are limited to line of sight, so unless
there are link stations on every hilltop then I would guess that the
capabilities of the cellphones are minimized if not completely cut off.

As for the survival kit , I think a pair of military X-country skis
with all gear (poles, boots, overall etc) would be advisable or atleast
snow shoes... A pair of Telemark ski's with "skins" are equally as
good. With an M-35 I don't think there is any problem with storage
space !?? (M-35 -tis the big green thingy ??) Ofcourse then one would
have to know how to ski.... There aren't too many places where a man
with good ski's cannot get, even after the motored vehicles give out.
The finn's proved that during the winter war. Currently in my branch the
ski's are the primary " MV " to get from point A to point B via X,Y and
Z.
