The steering sounds like the old style by the pivot on the frame. The new
style has a Ross power steering box mounted where that pivot is. I would say
it's unlikely that it broke pulling into the lot. Amore likely story is a
DRMO forklift operator broke it moving the truck around. They love to pick
the front of the trucks up w/ the forks to move them around. The truck
probably is a 1955 Mack and it was up graded to A2 by installing a LDS in
1989. Is the data plate crudely stamped? Looking at the picture it appears to
have the add on turn signals which would also indicate an early truck. It's
at least a pre-70 because after that they were all Cummins powered trucks w/
a longer nose.
