Re: [MV] Any CJ parts that fit M38?

My 59 CJ6 has the same axles(*), transmission, and transfer case, the only
difference is the F-Head engine vs. the I-Head in the M38. In fact, when I
need parts for my CJ6 (like shifter boots & knobs, etc.) I look to the mil-veh
suppliers. Oh, the wheels on my CJ6 are 15" and they are 16" on the M38. The
springs and shocks might be different between civvy and mil, but brakes (watch
wheel cyl ID's and LH/RH wheel studs) and steering appear to be identical. I
am converting my CJ6 to 11" brakes, so I will have spare 9" brakes for the
M38. Of course, electrical and fuel are totally different, as are dashes. I
would say for the most part from the frame down you can swap civilian stuff
(except wheels). Look for old CJ5 stuff as CJ3A/B stuff is harder to find.
(*) Watch for different gear ratios.
