Hi list

This is a bit off the Military Vehicle theme... sorry...

I'm currently trying to rescue a large WW2 nissen hut in Devon and relocate
it to Bletchley Park Museum, near Milton Keynes

Is there anyone on the List in the UK who can give me any help/advice
here... the Nissen Hut is 100ft long 40 ft wide and 20 ft high - corrugated
steel skin on steel skeleton... when dismantled it has been quesstimated to
weigh between 30 and 60 Ton

If it comes out around 30 ton, then I guess I will need one truck/load if
it's more then two.

Currently I have raised enough money to cover dismantling it and have a 10
strong work party available with cutting and drilling equipment and
experienced roofers and HGV Qualified drivers.

What I need to know is who, where can I go (in the UK) to rent / borrow the
required equipment to do the job.... A large Truck... and a forklift to
facilitate loading.

The ideal would be if anyone has connections with a friendly Royal Engineers
TA Unit... or similar.

If I fail to get the Nissen hut it will be demolished in 8 weeks time - it
was reskinned by the MOD about 5 years ago so is in as good a condition as
one could expect - the skeleton was put up by the US army in 1943.

Many thanks for your patience... the only relevance to the MV subject is
that it will (hopefully) be recovered by a team of MV enthusiasts from
Bletchley Park Museum (with a few others) and may provide additional dry
dispay space for new and interesting vehicles.

The current building owner has made it clear that the building will only be
available to a non-commercial museum type organisation... but if you
represent an organisation who might benefit from such a building and can
help me with my hut... there's another that could be made available -
applications via me.

Tim
