Lest folks be confused.....
While I believe what you say about WWII vehicles is correct, in the 50's peel
and stick letters (and numbers and stars) were authorized by the US Army, Air
Force and Marines. Even Uncle Sam realized they were quicker, easier and
neater than stenciling.
