yes, and I may add something to this tread.

here in Italy laws about vehicle circulation are quite heavy, we have to
"permanently" have plates on the rear and forward side as well. them must
be placed exactly on the middle, not less than 30cm no more than 120cm from
the ground, vertically +/- 5°, and so on...

we don't have personalized plates as well...

BUT...I'm quite proud of my plate.
As you know, all vehicles here in Europe went here to fight.
after the war end, Allies left a lot of stuff to the european countries to
substain reconstruction; my MB was in the italian army until '55, then was
sold to civilians, and registered as civilian vehicle.
My plate is original from '55, and from it everyone can deduce his age and
value as well.
I don't have to answer about his origin, because it's quite obvious that
she came from ARAR camps, and that she is original!

on the windshield, we must show insurance details, and tax fees exeption
granted to historic and registered vehicles.

about stuff.., we MUST have installed all lights compulsory for
normal vehicles, BUT safety belts, and we (registered antiques..) are
exempted from gas exaust limitations..
AND, it will be probably granted lead fuel availability also when
completely banned from the market !
