In addition to the previous listed weapons systems, We carried them on the
M1A1 Abrams. They are part of the BII (Basic Issue Items). The are used if
the tank needs to be employed in an indirect fire mission. Same concept as
everything else. Get a distance and azimuth and compute the gun elevation
off tables. Incidentally I took and currently have a gunners quadrant out of
an Iraqi T72 during the gulf war, so I guess the practice is fairly universal.
