All right then, time to throw a challenge or two at the list.
Most collectors of early US equipment will have seen the marbled
reflectors used on the early '40s vehicles. They were rapidly superceded
by the plastic ones we all know and love (make that 'buy regularly')
For those that haven't seen them they fit the standard mounting centres,
but have fourteen red (or yellow) marbles in a matrix on the front. They
are normally marked "King Bee, Photo-Ray No 295, american Automatic
Devices, Chicago, USA" Not surprising they were superceded as they weigh
more than twice what the plastic ones do and are fairly inefficient.
Although I always associate them with 1940 vehicles one of my WC 36
Carryalls came with them on, and it had a January '42 delivery date on it,
so anyone know when 'they' stopped using them ?
I need to get a few of the early reflectors for my Dodges. I bought a few
used ones from Steve Greenberg, who has stopped making the new
reproductions, and of course I keep an eye on e-bay for any that come up
there, but has anyone else got a source for them ?
