They say "seeing is believing" and I didn't believe it until I tried it, but
oven cleaner works great. I left the foam on M38 wheels for about an hour,
sprayed it off with a power washer on low setting and the rinse water was OD
color. I put the sprayer on high and off came more paint layers. I had to
foam the wheels several more times to get down past the primer to bare metal,
but it worked. I effectively cleaned all 5 wheels in the course of an
afternoon. Primered them the next day. Done... Per the list, I went to a
dollar store and got the cheapo brand for $1 per can. Walmart has oven
cleaner, but it was $2.39 for a 16 oz. can. Did the fenders next, same
result. Better than sand blasting for me since I only have a small 3 hp.
unit. Try it!!!! (except now the gal at the $$ store wanted to know how I
could get my stove so dirty that I would actually need the 30 cans of oven
cleaner that I just picked up......) I told her it was built by the Army
back in 1951.....
