Hum,.... I'm glad I live in Scotland where things are cheaper.

I reckon a complete MB / GPW in need of tyres, canvas, odds and ends, and
a complete strip,rebuild, and re-finish is worth USD 3750, in fact I
bought a couple about 15 months back that needed some parts but would
price out pretty much at that. I don't know anybody who has ever paid
more than UKP 4000 (call it USD 6500) for an ordinary MB or GPW,
regardless of condition. I've seen numerous ones advertised as 'personal
property of (insert famous general / politician/ film star here)' at
prices up to the equivalent of USD 16000, but I don't know anyone who has
PAID that much for one, even gold plated. I would admit that something in
'factory fresh' condition might approach that value.

If the gentleman wants USD 7500 then fine, but for that money I'd be
looking for it to be in very good condition and delivered, with all the
bits and pieces in place too. If he gets customers at his price then
fine, but I did think that they would be running up storage costs just
sitting there...... Maybe if people just keep him irritated the price
will go up again and all our jeeps will be more valuable by association
8-) I'd far rather have seven and a half 'woods' jeeps at USD 1000
each any day.

Gordon
