.....Like how I kept this on topic?? :o)
Ok folks, today's topic is.......BRASS STENCILS!
I have several questions -
FIRST - A good friend of mine just sold me a huge brass stencil set . NO,
Bill, I don't mean six foot high letters for stenciling Battleships.
*Laughter*
Problem is, many of the stencils are heavily painted and some are slightly
corroded. What's the easiest and cheapest way to remove all this paint!
Any corrosion ideas will also be appreciated. Yes, I know, I was a Marine
and know how to brasso stuff! *Laughter*
I'm particularly interested in contacting the guy with the molasses rust
removal trick, since I've misplaced the email with the specifics. I've tried
it on rusty stuff and..........it works! No kidding, I was amazed. Now I
want to try it out on paint, I think he said that works too?
SECOND - What's the correct way to use these things? Are you supposed to
buy file folders and draw the words you want to make masks of, then cut them
out? Or do people regularly just use the brass stencil as a paint mask,
then clean the paint off? I have blanks and blank end pieces (no locking
seam on one side) so it looks like direct paint over is the way to go, but is
that right?
THIRD - I'm still accepting charitable vehicle donations for those who
want their mule or jeep to have a good home and warm meals.
...........oops, that sort of slipped in there.....
