Oh, c'mon,

One more stupid pun won't hurt!

I just checked the lunette eyes on two M-416 trailers
and they have keyways cut into the shafts. Now I've
had these things out before but I can't remember if
they had keys in them or not. I almost think they do.
That would give the eye some stability but still
allow it to turn under certain circumstances.

Lets think about this for a minute.

On a long heavy truck with a trailer you'd need to
have the tongue able to turn on rough terrain but with
the jeep/trailer combination which is much shorter the
loose pintle hook arangement would have enough travel
to account for most situations EXCEPT one!

That being when the narrow trailer with its load held
fairly high takes a corner too fast. The trailer
would be able to tip over without upsetting the jeep.
Well,.... not as much, anyway, ... maybe.

Ok,.... it was just a thought.

I needed that foxhole deeper anyway.....

Joe
